How many milligrams of potassium would be acceptable in a recipe if you are trying to bring your potassium levels down?
One of the most common reasons physicians might have folks restrict potassium is when they have kidney problems. The most common recommendation in such cases is to limit yourself to 2 grams of potassium per day (2,000 milligrams).
All of the Health meets Food recipes include potassium levels in the Nutrition Facts section. Many foods now also have this listed on the package as well.
If you have been told to limit your potassium intake, ask your doctor or dietitian the amount they want you to consume each day.
