Stonewall Kitchen Lemon Dill Cocktail Sauce

Lemon Dill Cocktail SauceI like to have Shrimp Cocktail every now and then and am always on the lookout for new ideas. I like my own cocktail sauce recipe partly because I have been so disappointed in bottled sauces. They generally have too much of something -- too sweet, too salty, too vinegary. So it was with high hopes that I picked up the Stonewall Kitchen Lemon Dill Cocktail Sauce. Mind you, Stonewall Kitchen creates many fine things with their Ginger Peach Tea Jam made in conjunction with The Republic of Tea being quite simply fantastic.

Not so with this cocktail sauce. At $4.99 this one is best left on the shelf. You can make your own fresh tasting sauce for about 1/4 the price and be so much happier. There's not much lemon or dill flavor and the sauce is much too tart. It has a plastic aftertaste that is not something that is usually a part of Stonewall Kitchen products.
